OWC and TCE partner up to facilitate India’s offshore wind targets
With India offering a prospect for continues growth in offshore wind sector, companies are gearing up to facilitate the same. Recently,
Offshore Wind Consultants Limited (OWC) and Tata Consulting Engineers Limited (TCE) signed an agreement to partner up for upcoming offshore wind projects.
Keeping in mind India’s targets of adding 5GW of offshore wind capacity by 2022 and 30GW by 2030, set during last summer, the two engineering consultancies will combine their powers to deliver engineering and project management services to Indian offshore wind developments, under the agreement.
An expression of interest for the country’s inaugural offshore wind park near Gujarat, issued last April, attracted 35 responses from both domestic and international companies and consortia. The Indian government plans to launch the leasing of 1GW of prospective capacity off Gujarat later this year.
”We have been involved with offshore wind developments all over the world and our partnership with a major domestic company such as TCE will give international and local developers looking to this market their required range of technical and project management consultancy support to first bid successfully, then develop and realise their offshore wind projects in India.” said John MacAskill, business development director at OWC.
